At the time of my diagnosis almost 10 years ago, I was a busy solicitor working full time and commuting between my home in Newbury and my firm’s offices in London and Swindon.

It was an immense shock to find that I had a life threatening/limiting disease, and hugely stressful that there seemed to be so little information available to the patient compared to other cancers.

I was so grateful to discover Neuroendocrine Cancer UK (formerly The NET Patient Foundation ) website and forum, both of which gave me far more information than was given to me at the time by the medical profession.

After a fairly lengthy period of treatment, I was delighted to have the opportunity to become a Trustee of the charity where I can use my legal skills to help support the work of Cathy and her fantastic team.

I stopped working as a solicitor in 2013, and in pre pandemic times enjoyed volunteering for various local charities. I look forward to resuming those activities in due course.

10 years on from a fairly bleak diagnosis, I have ups and downs with my health, but am broadly well, and enjoy cycling and walking in the countryside around Newbury.
