NET Patient Foundation in association with The Christie Hospital’s NET team held a dedicated NET Patient Education Meeting on Friday 25th January.
There was an amazing turn out by NET patients, supporters and the NET team from The Christie Hospital.
Linda Orrett, Complementary Therapist from The Christie Hospital started the day with stress management techniques and fatigue and sleep management.
Looking after your mind and body was the take home message from the session. The effects of stress (especially chronic stress, happening days after day) on the body were explained and how these could be damaging, one of the interesting things was how stress could disrupt the digestive system as blood is diverted away during stress due to our fight or flight response.
Linda talked us through some basic mediation and mindfulness techniques and it is reassuring to know that the relax response is trainable an becomes more profound with practice.
