Healthcare Professional Webinars: PERT and what to do during current shortages

(Please note: that these webinars are specifically for healthcare professionals: including hospital clinicians/prescribers, GPs, CNSs & both hospital and community pharmacists)

Many of you, whether in primary, secondary or tertiary care, may have received the Patient Safety Alert on PERT ( NatPSA_2024_007_DHSC.pdf – for more detailed advice) and/or read the Position Statement from the Pancreatic Society of Great Britain & Ireland – but may still have questions about PERT, how and what current shortages mean for your practice and how you can best help and support those who need it.

As part of our ongoing commitment to work together with healthcare and allied healthcare professionals, alongside charity colleagues, to improve patient care, access to best treatments, and ultimately to improve the patient experience, and outcomes, we are delighted to share 2 key information and educational opportunities: these free to access webinars, hosted by Pancreatic Cancer UK, will take place in September – you can register now to take part:

On Tuesday 17th September from 9am-10:15am the 1st webinar is for HCPs & CNSs – for further details and how to register – please use the following link:

Further information on PERT:
NCUK News: https://www.neuroendocrinecancer.org.uk/pert-update-addressing-current-shortages/ includes Patient Safety Alert and link to Position Statement (which has now separated Advice for Clinicians* and Advice for Patients)

*PLEASE NOTE: there are differences in unit measurements between the UK and US:

* for lipase, 1 USP unit = 1BP/PhEur unit
* for amylase, 4.15 USP = 1 BP/PhEur unit
* for protease, 62.5 USP = 1 BP/PhEur unit
USP = United States Pharmacopeia / BP = British Pharmacopoeial (UK) / PhEur = European Pharmacopoeia
