RareMinds “Mindfulness for pain, fatigue and anxiety” course

May 2, 2023

Day: every Thursday from 11th May – 29th June 2023

Time: 10.30am – 12.30pm

In March this year, our counselling and psychotherapy partners at RareMinds ran an Online (Zoom) taster session on ‘Mindfulness for Pain and Fatigue’ for our Neuroendocrine Cancer community.
Following on from the success of that session – and how well it was received – we at Neuroendocrine Cancer UK are delighted to announce and support the launch of their “Mindfulness for pain, fatigue and anxiety: 8-week programme for those living with NENS”.
Mindfulness-based techniques are increasingly being used in the NHS for a range of chronic conditions, including pain and low mood: https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/self-help/tips-and-support/mindfulness/
“It can be easy to lose touch with the way our bodies are feeling and to end up living ‘in our heads’ – caught up in our thoughts without stopping to notice how those thoughts are driving our emotions and behaviour.”
Says Professor Mark Williams, former director of the Oxford Mindfulness Centre.
“An important part of mindfulness is reconnecting with our bodies and the sensations they experience. . .
“. . .developing an awareness of our thoughts and feelings as they happen moment to moment.
“ . . . allowing ourselves to see the present moment clearly. . .
When we do that, it can positively change the way we see ourselves and our lives.”
This 8-week interactive course, just for Neuroendocrine Cancer (NEN) patients, will be delivered, by Steve Smith*, via Zoom in a friendly, supportive group environment with a maximum of 15 participants.
It involves in-depth and personalised teaching on mindfulness practices and techniques, including taught aspects, discussions, exercises, and support for your own course.
